Angela McTaggart

Brunswick Naturopathy

Angela Mactaggart Brunswick NaturopathHi, my name is Angela McTaggart and I am a naturopath and business owner of Brunswick Naturopathy.  I am passionate about Natural Medicine and helping my patients feel their best.

You may be looking for an alternative to how you have been feeling lately.  That’s how I found naturopathy.

I developed pre-eclampsia when expecting my daughter, which was quite a shock.  When my daughter was small I developed Ulcerative colitis. Why did this happen?

Two very serious health conditions in a short amount of time!

I felt exhausted, frightened and overwhelmed by all of my symptoms.  I had so many unresolved questions.  Short-term suppression of my symptoms was the only medical option offered to me.  I wanted to find a natural way to heal myself and to feel better long term – and I did. I spent 10 years studying while my children were little to get my Health Science degree in Naturopathy.

Over the years I found alternative ways to help with headaches, pain, digestive and hormonal issues.

I found ways to support my growing children naturally wherever possible when illnesses arose, like common colds, eczema, hay fever, allergies, tummy issues, anxiety etc.

I now have many years of experience in treating a diverse range of health conditions and concerns, including digestive health, hormone issues, thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune diseases, skin concerns, children’s health, mental health and pain management.

I am passionate about helping people experience more energy, less stress and a greater sense of purpose, vitality and balance in their life.  When I first meet my patients there is a lot of confusion surrounding health, nutrition and lifestyle.

When you come to see me, my goal is to understand your complete health picture and the cause of your symptoms. We can then create a treatment plan that is customized, realistic, and effective to create lasting good health.

Treating the gut is often the first step in the path to good health.

I have had a lot of success in helping with gut related issues, including IBS, poor digestion, nutrient absorption, digestive symptoms that cause pain and discomfort and food intolerances. We are learning more about the relationship between the gut and the brain (and almost every other part of the body). Good digestion is clearly essential to good health.

Having worked in a multi-disciplinary clinic with chiropractors and massage therapists, I have worked to understand musculo-skeletal problems and find effective strategies to manage pain and inflammation, arthritis, muscular, joint and bone issues.

I work with women in addressing a wide range of hormonal issues including hormonal imbalance, PMS, dysmenorrhoea (period pain), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis. I also support women in improving fertility, preconception care and pregnancy.

The transition through menopause is when a lot of women present with increased weight, sleep problems, hot flushes, muscle and joint pain and mental health concerns. At this stage of life other health issues can arise such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.

I see a lot of patients for weight management support.  This isn’t just about looking good!  There are so many reasons to maintain a healthy weight. Maintaining a healthy weight can reduce your diabetes risk, reduce your blood pressure, lower atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk factors, reduce joint pain, and manage increased hormone problems that arise from excess fatty tissue.

With twenty years of experience as a primary school teacher and as a mother of 2 children, I have had personal experience in caring for children’s health concerns. Natural medicine is well suited to children. It can help with a range of conditions including eczema, food sensitivities, respiratory conditions, digestive disturbances, and ADHD. For parents wanting to avoid giving their children pharmaceutical medicines, healing through diet, herbs and natural supplements can be of great value.

There are many reasons why you may need to take pharmaceutical medications under the direction of your doctor or specialist.  I can work alongside them to support you.  This may be by providing extra nutritional support or dealing with side effects or deficiencies caused by your medication or health condition.

My passion lies in helping people become proactive about their health.  I have the knowledge, expertise and resources to guide you in your journey to better health and wellbeing, and to assist you to achieve your health goals.
