Arthritis Brunswick Naturopathy

Are you in pain?

Is poorly managed pain and inflammation slowing you down and affecting your quality of life? Living with chronic pain and inflammation can be debilitating, and make many aspects of everyday life a challenge.

Pain and Inflammation

The feeling of pain is your body’s way of telling you that there is inflammation. Inflammation is associated with the classic symptoms of pain, redness, heat and swelling.  Inflammation is our body’s normal physiological response.  It is designed to be a short-term mechanism to protect the affected tissue and aid repair. However, inflammation can be a contributing factor to many health problems and is a key component in:

  • Joint pain
  • Arthritis (Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis)
  • Back pain
  • Muscular aches
  • Digestive disorders (Inflammatory bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease)
  • Period pain
  • Headaches
  • Injury

If not managed inflammation can become a driver of chronic disease including Cardiovascular disease

  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Neurological conditions
    • Alzheimer’s Disease
    • Depression
    • Schizophrenia

The Four Key Sources of Pain

  1. Inflammatory pain, such as tissue injury, osteoarthritis or sports injuries.
  2. Inflammatory pain generated by autoimmunity and auto-inflammation, such as Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, Ankylosing spondylitis.
  3. Pain due to muscular tension and/or spasm, such as period pain or tension headaches.
  4. Pain due to nerve interference (pressure, impingement), neuralgia, sciatica, cancer pain, fibromyalgiasyndrome (FMS).

What’s Causing Your Pain & Inflammation?

Brunswick Naturopathy Pain ReliefMany elements of our modern lifestyles can contribute to inflammation, including stress, toxicity, poor diet, obesity, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of physical activity and lack of sleep.  To successfully treat your pain and inflammation I will need to fully examine the causes and exacerbating factors for your condition.

Underlying drivers are different for everyone and that’s why treating pain and inflammation is different with every patient.   A comprehensive treatment protocol will focus on reducing these contributing factors through dietary and lifestyle modification, while supporting healthy stress and immune responses, and if necessary, weight loss and detoxification.

Gut Friendly Pain Relief

Long-term use of anti-inflammatory medications can adversely affect your gastrointestinal health. The herbs and supplements I use can be beneficial for relieving the pain and inflammation while not causing damage to your gut lining.  These are safe to use long term and are ideal alternatives to anti-inflammatory medications used in chronic pain and inflammation.
